The intervention, which includes 9 buildings of the historic HQs of the United Nations Office, is under construction and has required highly specialized survey work with laser scanners, restitution, BIM modelling and Construction design. Moreover, the participation of the selected subcontractors in the construction field, guaranteed effective and high quality solutions, coherent to the specific context of the building.

With regard to Project Management and Construction design, the BIM technology allowed the restitution of over 400 rooms, resulting in the possibility to plan a work schedule with construction phases that would proceed quickly: the demolition works have already been completed for buildings A,D,S1 and AB, while building AC is at an advanced stage, with plant installations already in place, as well as windows and internal partitions.

The existing heritage and the growing policies on sustainability and land use lead to a changed sensitivity, a fundamental element of ATIproject’s activity. From these considerations comes the awareness of a necessary and effective enhancement and re-functionalisation of historic buildings, legacy of years in which the construction logics followed other paradigms.
