Mineral Licence and Safety Authority
The Mineral Licence and Safety Authority is located in Nuuk with 6 employees placed in two departments: The Inspection and Technical Department and the Licence Department. The Mineral Licence and Safety Authority is an underlying agency to the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Justice.

Joint profile for both departments
Our portfolio is managed in close cooperation with other public authorities, which requires colleagues who are skilled at interdisciplinary cooperation and project management within public authorities, geology, technical and environmental topics. We are a small agency with a broad portfolio. A prerequisite for a great day at the office is that you are ready to aid your co-worker.

Our everyday assignment consists of many points of contact from in-country and abroad. It is vital that you are comfortable in spoken   written English.

It is a great advantage if you have knowledge of Greenlandic language and culture. For applicants from outside of Greenland, emphasis will be placed on ability and desire to work and live in a new cultural setting.

Working in either department requires flair for IT in a broad sense, in particular MS Office. For the right candidate with IT-skills, the position can be evolved to you being the Agency’s key person on IT related assignments, including being our main point of contact to the Government’s central IT department. This portfolio includes being trained to being the Agency’s super-user in our databases and journals.

The Inspection and Technical Department
The Technical and Inspection Department is looking for 1-2 new colleagues with a background in engineering, technical skills or geoscience. Your assignments will be case-processing and inspection of mineral resource activities, where you will be part of our work in ensuring that exploitation of mineral resources is carried out with focus on health and safety. You will therefore be cooperating closely with mining companies and a variety of public authorities and technical consultants. The position includes some meeting and travel activity in relation to the inspections.

We expect you to have

  • A technical or geoscience background, e.g. engineer or geologist
  • Knowledge of the construction or mining industry
  • A structured and cooperative approach

We would prefer if you also have

  • Experience with case-processing and work in a public authority
  • Experience with GIS
  • Knowledge of working with H&S

Licence Department
The Licence Department is looking for 1 new colleague. Your primary tasks will be case-processing in relation to granting of licences and being the point of contact for companies and individuals. You will be assigned a portfolio of licences, that you will be responsible for. Depending on the circumstances, you will also participate in the Agency’s development of terms and conditions and contribute to the Agency’s information and branding activities.

We expect you to have

  • A relevant university degree, preferably within social science, law or public administration
  • A mind-set for uniform operational tasks
  • A structured approach
  • Good writing skills (Greenlandic and/or Danish)

We would prefer if you also have

  • Experience with case-processing
  • Experience with public authorities and political institutions
  • Knowledge of the mineral resources area or different areas with licence work

Salary and terms of hire
Starting date at the earliest convenience. We are willing to wait for the right candidate.

Salary and terms of hire, including the right to connection and severance travel and furniture removal costs, is determined in accordance with the current agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant union.

The working hours are generally 40 hours per week. The mining industry is seasonal, and extra hours are expected during certain times of year.

For applicants with the right set of qualifications, there may be an opportunity for employment as a special advisor or chief advisor.

Unfurnished accommodation will be available for 1 of the positions according to the current rules. Rent and deposit must be paid according to the current rules for the assigned housing. Staff accommodation is linked to employment and must be vacated upon termination of employment.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the property age, ownership, etc. There may be a waiting period for assignment of permanent staff housing, in which case temporary furnished accommodation will be made available, in an apartment, shared housing or a hotel apartment for which rent normal taxation occurs. It is not possible to keep larger pets such as dog or cat in the accommodation.
